Giuliani shrugs off GOP poll watcher’s sex conviction and compares Trump volunteer to Hunter Biden

Rudy Giuliani on Monday was non-plussed that a Republican poll watcher who made claims of improprieties in the presidential ballot count is a convicted New Jersey sex offender.

The leader of President Trump’s legal team said he was unaware of Daryl M. Brooks' reported criminal record for exposing himself to two girls two decades ago, but insisted it doesn’t shoot down his unfounded claims of widespread election fraud.

“There are over 50 witnesses,” Giuliani told the Daily News. “There are so many others.”

The former New York City mayor compared the situation with Brooks to President-elect Joe Biden being backed by his son Hunter. Giuliani has claimed without evidence that Hunter Biden is being probed over nude images on a damaged laptop computer.

“Geez you got a guy ... who is endorsed by someone with an outstanding endangering children claim,” Giuliani said, repeating his unproven allegations against Hunter Biden. “Does it affect the credibility of others who support Biden? Print that!”

“Ask Biden if that diminishes his support,” Giuliani added.

Brooks, who spoke alongside Giuliani at a bizarre weekend press conference in Philadelphia, admitted serving three years in prison after being convicted of exposing himself to two girls in 1995, according to reports.

Brooks insisted that the charges were concocted by Democratic political enemies in his hometown of Trenton.

“It was all a set up,” Brooks told the News. "I’m a black man from the ‘hood, and I know what it’s like to be accused of something you didn’t do.”

He described himself as a churchgoing activist with a spotless record who was railroaded by neighborhood rivals.

“Why would I drop my pants in broad daylight and start masturbating?” he asked. “I’ve been through hell because of that charge.”

Brooks said he supported Trump in part because the president was also attacked by entrenched political powers that be.

“I feel he went through some of the same things as me," Brooks said, adding that his Republican friends back him “100 percent.”

Brooks is known as a political gadfly in New Jersey. He has run several failed long-shot races for various offices, including the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

“We all know Daryl,” said Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora. “He claimed to be a community activist, but doesn’t have many followers.”

Gusciora called it “scary” that Trump would rely on someone with Brooks’ record to bolster claims about election fraud — and derided Giuliani for what he called a shameless political stunt.

“This falls in line with the Borat legal defense fund,” Gusciora said, referring to Giuliani being pranked by comedian Sasha Baron Cohen for his new movie. “It’s scary that you have someone like Rudy Giuliani in the position that he is in.”

Brooks served as a GOP poll watcher for Trump in the ballot count that has given Biden a narrow but clear lead in the tally in the crucial state of Pennsylvania.

Brooks, who now works in sales, took an unlikely star turn at Giuliani’s press conference on Saturday at which the former New York City mayor spewed unfounded conspiracy theories about the vote count.

“It’s such a shame. This is a democracy,” Brooks told reporters as Giuliani nodded approvingly.

The Saturday press conference was incongruously held in front of a landscaping company in working-class Northeast Philadelphia, nestled between an adult video outlet and a crematorium.

Neither Brooks nor Giuliani provided any hard evidence of their claims. But Hizzoner vowed to file legal papers Monday and planned another press conference.

Gusciora mocked Giuliani for choosing Four Seasons Total Landscaping for his event — and including Brooks.

“He couldn’t find the Four Seasons hotel, but he sure found Daryl Brooks,” Gusciora said. “That says it all.”
