Girls Roundup: Stanger, Lady Lions hand Mission first 7-B defeat

Feb. 2—EUREKA — Eureka's Kara Stanger poured in 28 points, 20 in the second half as the Lions rallied past Mission 64-59 in girls basketball, handing the Lady Bulldogs their first District 7-B loss.

Stanger, who went 11 of 13 from the line, had eight points in the third quarter as the Lions (7-7 overall, 6-1 in 7-B games) took a 48-40 lead. Aubrey Casazza hit two 3-pointers in the frame on the way to 10 points.

Cora Matt's 16 points led four players in double figures for Mission (11-3, 5-1 in league). She and Ellannah Flatlip combined for 22 first-half points.

RONAN — Bailey Smith hit three 3-pointers and scored 22 points for Whitefish, which rallied from a 21-18 halftime deficit in Northwest A play.

Smith had 19 points after halftime and Jude Perry added 12 points for the Bulldogs (5-8 overall, 2-5 in Northwest A games).

A one-point third period doomed the Maidens (6-8, 3-5 in league), who were led by Ariana Zepeda's 10 points.

Paeten Gunlock hit three 3-pointers and added 17 points for the Valkyries, now 15-1 and 9-0 in Northwest A play. Ava Davey added 12 points for Bigfork.

Teslin Trombley scored 10 points to lead Browning, which fell to 8-5, 5-2.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Ellie Stutsman led three Columbia Falls players in double figures with 14 points, and the Wildkats made short work of Libby in Northwest A girls basketball Thursday.

Stutsman had seven rebounds to go with her points for the Wildkats (6-8 overall, 5-3 in league), while Taryn Borgen added 13 points and five steals, and Hope McAtee had 12 points and five assists.

Rylee Delmas led the Loggers (1-13, 0-8) with 10 points.
