Turtles All the Way Down, the new film starring Ginny & Georgia’s Felix Mallard, will be heading to Max later this year.

The movie, an adaptation of John Green's 2017 novel of the same name, follows Aza Holmes (Transformers star Isabela Merced), a teenager with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) who reconnects with her childhood crush Davis (Mallard) as they search for a missing billionaire.

The film currently has no release date, but Green announced on Instagram that the project had been acquired by Max, writing: "BIG NEWS about the Turtles All the Way Down movie. It's... happening. @streamonmax".

The post was also accompanied by a video clip, with the author saying: "A while back, I wrote this book Turtles All the Way Down. This is my parents' copy by the way - look, it's so sweet. They stickied so many sections.

"And then a bunch of nice people got together and made a movie, which was an amazing experience, but you never know if a movie is actually going to come out. And the Turtles All the Way Down movie is coming out this year, later this year, on Max!

"Not only did I just find out that it's actually going to come out, which is a massive relief, I also found out that I get to go to SCAD TV Festival in Atlanta and talk about it and maybe even show people tiny little bits of the movie. So yeah, Turtles All the Way Down headed to your television sets later this year."

The author, whose novel The Fault in Our Stars has also been adapted, ended the video by referencing director Hannah Marks, revealing that the pair would share a panel together at the aforementioned festival.

In addition to Merced and Mallard, the cast for the film includes Cree Cicchino, Judy Reyes, Maliq Johnson, J. Smith-Cameron and Poorna Jagannathan. The screenplay has been penned by Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker, with Marks also appearing in the film.

Turtles All the Way Down will stream on Max in 2024.
