Everything old is new again, especially when it comes to beauty—and Gigi Hadid embodied this with her romantic Met Gala ‘do that looked straight out of the 1950s.

Hadid debited the classically simple yet undeniably stunning cut on the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps this past Monday with a nod to one of the greatest beauties of all time, the iconic Marilyn Monroe. Expertly crafted by celebrity hairstylist, Laura Polko, Hadid effortlessly embodied the romantic and feminine beauty—and we’re running to our hot rollers to try and recreate the look.

How did Polko do it? First, she started by prepping the hair with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and KBOND20 Power Masque, followed by some Joico JoiWhip Foam for volume and density and Joico Body Shake for additional texture and to lift the hair ever so slightly at the root.

Blow-drying the hair with a small round brush, Polko created a deep left side part. She then took Hadid’s hair and pinned hot rollers at the base of the hair for volume, applying down and away from the face for a swept curl look. To finish the ‘do, Polko used a one-inch curling iron around the ends for a whimsical flair and locked it all in with Joico Flip Turn to finish.

To really embrace the old-hollywood look, be sure to add the dramatic red lip!
