Gigantic Maine Coon Getting Groomed Is the Essence of Chill

Cats aren't exactly the friendliest animals, but you can always tell when one is well-loved. Just take a Maine Coon Cat on the internet, who was completely unbothered when his owner did the one task cats usually hate — grooming.

Zeus is a ginormous Maine Coon Cat, which means he has a lot (and we mean a lot) of fur.

Zeus is so large that he's almost as big as his human owner. Thankfully for all of us, the woman loves to show off her humongous Maine Coon Cat.

Recently, one of Zeus' many fans asked his mom how she brushes out all that beautiful Maine Coon fur. So she demonstrated their usual grooming routine in a new video online. Zeus was so relaxed as his mama worked through all that thick fur. The good kitty didn't move one bit.

"A lot of brushing," she wrote, in response to the commenter who asked how she kept up with the matting. "Mats we cut with a scissor," she added.

This might seem obvious to non-cat owners, but to other Maine Coon Cat owners this was practically magic. "My Maine Coon will only let me brush him for a good 10 seconds and after that he is ready to fight," wrote one person. "My Maine Coon will not allow any brushing. She’ll slice me to ribbons if I go near her," another commenter lamented. "Neither of my Maine Coons let me brush them lol. They run when they see the brush," added one person.

Cat Grooming Tips

Many people in the comments section had lots of ideas on how to get your cat used to grooming.

"You start brushing when they are kittens and you do it a couple times a day. They will learn to let you do it," one commenter advised.

And this is true! Starting your cats young is a great way to get them accustomed to grooming, so it feels like a natural part of their routine. It's possible to train your older cat to enjoy grooming, but it takes a little bit more effort.

Another good tip is to groom them regularly. We know, we know, cat's don't always make this a fun task. But it is necessary to avoid matting. If it's really a pain, keep grooming sessions really short, but do them more frequently.

Finally, remember that rewards do wonders. Cats respond well to treats for a job well done. So keep some handy for after the grooming session ends.

Obviously, Zeus is a pretty special guy. But if you take our advice there's a good chance your cat can grow to love getting brushed too.
