Giants activate Gary Brightwell from Reserve/COVID-19 list

The New York Giants announced on Monday that rookie running back Gary Brightwell has been activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Brightwell was among several dozen Giants who tested positive for COVID-19 last week. The vast majority of those were false-positives but Brightwell was one of two true positives, joining running backs coach Burton Burns.

Initial reports had suggested Brightwell was also a false-positive.

The 22-year-old Brightwell was selected in the sixth-round of the 2021 NFL draft. He has appeared in eight games this season, gaining four yards on one carry and hauling in one pass for an additional six yards.

Brightwell has spent most of his time on special teams, recording six tackles (one solo).

In addition to Brightwell, the Giants are also hopeful to see the return of running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
