Ghost of Tsushima PC Features and Release Date Revealed

Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch Productions' last title, Ghost of Tsushima, has been confirmed to be getting a PC port later this year. The announcement comes after weeks of rumors and speculation, prompted by its appearance in an Nvidia database leak years ago. The upcoming PC port will be developed by Nixxes Software, a development studio acquired by PlayStation to handle ports of its first-party games. The game hits PC storefronts (Steam and Epic Games Store) on May 16, 2024.

It's not just the base game, as the PC port includes the Director's Cut, an enhanced version of the game that includes the Iki Island expansion and PS5-specific features. The port will also include the free co-op multiplayer mode, Legends, along with other quality-of-life features like the Kurosawa mode. With that said, don't expect any ray-tracing goodies in the PC version just yet. Of course, the port will offer settings that go beyond the PS5 version, and the base game already looked gorgeous on a base PS4.

"We’re proud to announce that our friends and partners over at Nixxes are bringing Ghost of Tsushima to PC," said Brian Fleming, Co-Founder of Sucker Punch. "This is a first for Sucker Punch – all our previous work is console-exclusive, so we are excited about all this and Nixxes was the right team to do this project. With them on board, we knew the results would be nothing short of amazing! Now excuse me as I go order a Super Ultra Wide monitor!"

Ghost of Tsushima PC Port Features

Ghost of Tsushima on PC will include the following features:

  • Ultrawide resolution support (21:9, 32:9, 48:9)

  • Nvidia DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation

  • AMD FSR 3 upscaling and frame generation

  • Intel XeSS

  • Nvidia DLAA/AMD FSR 3 Native AA

  • DualSense and Xbox controller support

  • Customizable keyboard and mouse support

  • Unlocked frame rate

Those who pre-order the game on PC (via Steam or Epic Games Store) will receive the following items as a bonus:

  • New Game+ Horse

  • Traveler’s Attire

  • Broken Armor dyes from Baku’s shop

The announcement leaves three major PS5 games that have yet to be ported to PC - God of War Ragnarok, Demons' Souls, and The Last of Us Part 2. With Horizon: Forbidden West coming to PC this month, followed by Ghost of Tsushima, it looks like Sony has fast-tracked its expansion into PC territory. After all, Helldivers 2 (even though it's not a first-party game), broke all sorts of records with its simultaneous launch on PC and PS5, so perhaps Sony might be more open to the idea of releasing its next batch of console exclusives on PC on the same day.

With no big PlayStation-exclusive sequels coming this year, Sony's continued reliance on PC ports should tide over players who are yearning for new experiences.
