Geralt Returns in Netflix’s The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep — Watch Trailer

Geralt of Rivia will be back on your screens sooner than expected. Netflix on Friday announced that The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, a new animated companion film to The Witcher, will premiere in late 2024.

In Sirens of the Deep, Geralt is “hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople,” according to Netflix’s official synopsis. “He must count on friends, old and new, to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war.”

And if you recognize the voice of Geralt in the trailer above, you’re not mistaken — it’s Doug Cockle, the same unmistakable voice from The Witcher video games. Time-wise, this movie falls between Episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher‘s first season.

Sirens of the Deep is one of several offshoots set in the world of The Witcher. Netflix previously released The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021), an animated film focused on Geralt’s mentor Vesemir, and The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022), a four-episode live-action series set 1200 years before Geralt’s adventures began. Multiple other projects, including a “family-friendly” Witcher series, are also in development.

Released in two parts this summer, The Witcher‘s third season marked the end of Henry Cavill’s time in the role of Geralt. As previously announced, Liam Hemsworth will be donning the wig, the tight pants, etc. when The Witcher returns for Season 4, though it’s anyone’s guess when that will be.
