Georgia doctors make less money than doctors in any other state. Here’s more.

Next time you have a doctors appointment, be sure to thank your doctor for their service because they could be making twice the money elsewhere.

Stacker recently surveyed the salaries of doctors and broke down the findings by state. The researchers left no stone unturned when searching for salaries. Researchers used information from various health authorities, press releases, trusted news sources and a few tweets and Facebook posts from public health authorities or government officials.

The study revealed that Georgia doctors make less money than doctors in any other state in the country. Next to Georgia is West Virginia, Arkansas, Texas and Washington D.C.

During the pandemic, doctors were busier than ever and hospital beds were at an all-time shortage with COVID patients. Nurses and other staff were hard to keep on the front line due to illness.

However, according ton Atlanta nonprofit news outlet, WABE, “The pandemic has led to much lower patient volumes for physicians across Georgia. A lot of people have stopped going to the doctor.”

And it appears that doctors in Georgia have been making less nationally all along.

In 2019, data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics noted that Georgia’s general internal medicine physician’s average annual salary is $95,690 and family medicine physician’s $205,960.

On average, other physicians in Georgia make $236,530; surgeons make $247,390, pediatricians make $156,320 and anesthesiologists make $221,380.
