The Genius Trick For Keeping Wine Bottles From Clanging Around in Your Shopping Cart

It's no secret that Costco is a treasure trove of goodies in mega-sized portions set at warehouse-low prices. Think 18-piece storage sets fans are stocking up on and the heat-and-eat Château Fougères French Petite Fours that people are filling their freezers with for the holidays.

Wine is also a hot-ticket item at Costco—and not just during Advent Calendar season. The store sells many toast-worthy Kirkland-brand bottles that fans love to stock up on for the holidays (or any day). However, you may run into an issue if you're filling your cart with vino at Costco. In not-so-breaking news, wine bottles are breakable.

Luckily, TikTok is here to help. User @dailyoriginalvids recently posted a video showing how to keep Costco wine bottles safe while shopping and the footage has racked up more than 4.3 million views and 56.5K likes. The TikToker credits a Costco employee for teaching them the clever trick.

The video explains how to keep wine bottles safe as you continue to peruse the Costco aisles. (Because you really need to find that glass jar set.) Watch as the person orderly arranges the bottles in the top part of the cart—you know, the part where you might place a toddler if you were brave enough to bring them to Costco. The necks of the bottles slip in between the spaces in the metal mesh of the cart and the base of the bottles rest against the plastic flaps near the handle. Genius!

Sorry, bananas, but fermented grapes are taking a front seat during this shopper's Costco trip. At the end of the nine-second video, it's clear the wine bottles are as safe and secure as a baby but far quieter. Who knew that space could double as a wine box? Well, now millions of TikTokers know—and they're sounding off about the genius trick.

"Smart move," said one.

"OMG, yes," wrote another.

"I’m amazed," applauded a third.

Others brought the jokes (we think).

“Where do I put the other 20 bottles?” the person asked.

And others had hot tips to improve the hack.

"Rotate all your wine bottles so the barcodes are up when you get to checkout so they can quickly hand scan them without picking them up," a commenter suggested.

One person summed it up best when they wrote, "Costco thinks of it all."

They do indeed.
