'General Hospital' Defends Star Tabyana Ali From Racist Online Attacks

Port Charles is a place for everyone! On Tuesday, the General Hospital community took to social media to defend cast member Tabyana Ali after she received a number of racist comments aimed at her on social media.

In a statement released on the official General Hospital Instagram and X accounts, the long-running daytime soap opera made the message very clear that racism would not be tolerated.

"General Hospital does not tolerate hatred or bigotry of any kind. Racism has no place in Port Charles. #GH is for everyone," the statement read.

Ali, who has played Trina Robinson on the series since 2022, reacted to the support, writing on X, "I appreciate you so much ABC/GH."

The statement came after Ali publicly addressed the online attacks on her personal X platform.

On June 9, Ali had a call to action for her followers, directed at the trolls.

"If you see anybody sending hate, send a '🪞' so they can reflect on themselves and start becoming the person the Lord intend!," the 22-year-old actress wrote.

The Genereal Hospital star went on to directly address the people who chose to send her unkind messages.

"Okay this is the last time I'm going to speak on this today but we cannot be feeding in to peoples hate. We cannot be giving it back. We cannot stoop to rude/racist people's level. It doesn't help. We are fighting too many wars as it is. I believe we will have our world peace 1/2," she wrote on June 9.

"To anyone that hates me. That's absolutely fine. I don't know you and you don't me but regardless I'm sending you peace, safety, and prosperity... I also pray you touch some grass, see the sun, eat a delicious meal, and find something to do," she added.

In addition to the General Hospital production, Ali got public support from her co-star, Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis Davis.

"You hide behind a profile pix & spew hatred & racism at Tabyana, you spew it at every cast member of General Hospital & we condemn & reject it," she wrote over Ali's tweet. "We stand by our friend & colleague in her dignified & gracious response. There's no place 4 racism of any kind in r beloved GH community."

Ali previously took to X and addressed the hateful comments she began to receive shortly after joining the show. In a post from 2022, Ali asked her fans to reply with "kindness" to any hate directed at her or her character, Trina.

Prior to Ali playing Trina, the role was originated by Tiana Le in 2017, before it was taken over by Sydney Mikayla in 2019, who stayed until Ali was cast.

General Hospital is currently in it's 60th season after premiering on television in 1963.
