Gen V has confirmed that Chance Perdomo's role won't be recast following his tragic death.

The actor starred in the superhero spin-off as the character Andre Anderson, and it was announced in late March that he had died in a motorcycle accident in upstate New York. Production on the second season, which he was on his way to, has been paused indefinitely.

In a statement on social media, a show spokesperson said: "As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory.

"We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May.

"We will honour Chance and his legacy this season."

Following his death, the Gen V cast issued a statement that read: "Our hearts are with Chance's loved ones as we grieve this shocking loss.

"We will remember the special moments we had together, his infectious smile that could light up any room, his warm hugs and the authenticity he carried with him always. Rest in peace dear friend, you will be deeply missed. Love, The Gen V Cast."

"Blinding intellect. Encyclopedic knowledge of hip hop. Raw talent," said his on-screen father Sean Patrick Thomas. "You were destined to make yourself unforgettable in this world, and in a brief time, you achieved it. You ran your race with style, my man. I'll miss our long talks friend."

As well as starring in The Boys spin-off, Perdomo also acted in all four seasons of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Shakespeare & Hathaway, Midsomer Murders, and the 2018 BBC Three drama Killed By My Debt, which he was nominated for a BAFTA for.

The Boys seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video, along with spin-off Gen V. Season 4 is due in June 2024.
