Here is a daily list of the top performers from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties during the 12th week of spring sports action.

Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps or mentioning @JoeLHughesII in game results and highlights posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

Baseball

Marshall McGowan, Burns: Hit a three-run homer and a grand slam as part of an 8-1 win over Bandys.

Colby Putnam, Burns: Pitched a complete game, allowing a run on two hits with 14 strikeouts.

Meridian Leffew, Gaston Christian: Hit a solo home run and scored another in a 6-4 loss to Grace Christian.

Aaron Main, Gaston Christian: Was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Softball

Bailey Livengood, Gaston Christian: Was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored in a 7-6 win over Grace Christian.

Katie Muchesko, Gaston Christian: Was 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored.

Ciara Nanney, Gaston Christian: Was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Girls soccer

Brooklyn Cheatham, Highland Tech: Scored a goal in a 5-0 win over Murphy.

Avery Davis, Highland Tech: Scored a goal and assisted on another.

Madison Joyner, Highland Tech: Earned a hat trick.

Harmoni Carter, Mountain Island Charter: Scored two goals and had an assist in an 11-0 win over Carolina International.

Eden Lewis, Mountain Island Charter: Scored two goals.

Mia Lor, Mountain Island Charter: Scored a goal and had five assists.

Lexi Birtwistle, South Point: Scored a goal in her team’s 4-0 win over Enka.

Jesson Cadiang, South Point: Scored two goals.

Claire Hauck, South Point: Scored a goal.
