Here is a daily list of the top performers from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties during the fourth week of spring sports action.

Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps or mentioning @JoeLHughesII in game results and highlights posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

Baseball

Kings Mountain’s Brayden Patrick pitched a six-inning complete game, striking out 16 in the Mountaineers’ 16-0 win over Hunter Huss.

Teammates Tucker Cash (2-for-5, 3 RBIs, 2 R) and Jason Melton (2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBIs, 2 R) contributed to the win.

Cameron Barnette, East Gaston: Pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 in an 11-1 win over Highland Tech. He was also 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Dylan Howell, East Gaston: Was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored in an 11-1 win over Highland Tech.

Parker Stafford, East Gaston: Pitched 4 ⅔ innings, allowing no runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Highland Tech.

Logan Teno, East Gaston: Was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in a 3-0 win over Highland Tech.

Dylan Wright, East Gaston: Was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored in an 11-1 win over Highland Tech.

Nathan Hovis, Lincolnton: Had an RBI double and scored a run in an 8-2 loss to West Lincoln.

Allan Rydell, Lincolnton: Was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Evan Myers, Lincoln Charter: Hit a two-run homer in a 3-1 win over Pine Lake Prep.

Jacob Smith, Lincoln Charter: Pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits with nine strikeouts.

Ryder Springston, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Easton Davidson, Shelby: Was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, along with allowing two runs on a hit with 12 strikeouts in 6 ⅔ innings pitched in a 4-2 loss to Thomas Jefferson in eight innings.

Zeke Pruitt, South Point: Was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in a 7-6 win over Stuart Cramer. The Red Raiders scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the victory.

Aydan Bradley, Stuart Cramer: Was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored in a 7-6 loss to South Point.

Zach Camacho, Stuart Cramer: Was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Ty Detweiler, Stuart Cramer: Was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Twig Carpenter, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-3 with a run scored in an 8-2 win over Lincolnton.

Jacob Driggers, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-4.

Evan  Hartsoe, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Softball

Madalyn Bowen, Crest: Was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored in a 17-3 win over North Gaston.

Aidan Ledbetter, Crest: Pitched five innings, allowing three runs (two earned)  on four hits with 17 strikeouts.

Sage McMurry, Crest: Was 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Sara Rose Warlick, Crest: Was 4-for-5 with a double, home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Ella Shope, Crest: Was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored.

Kendra Anderson, East Gaston: Was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 21-1 win over Highland Tech. She was also 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 19-3 win over the Lady Rams.

Alexis Boulware, East Gaston: Was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a run scored in a 19-3 win over Highland Tech.

Lilyan Helms, East Gaston: Was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored in a 21-1 win over Highland Tech.

Hannah Massey, East Gaston: Was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in a 21-1 win over Highland Tech. She also was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored in a 19-3 win over the Lady Rams.

Izabella Sides, East Gaston: Was 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored in a 21-1 win over Highland Tech.

Carson Summey, East Gaston: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in a 21-1 win over Highland Tech. She was also 3-for-3 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored in a 19-3 win over the Lady Rams.

Lily Cabe, Forestview: Was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Olivia Hensley, Forestview: Pitched five innings, allowing one run on two hits with 10 strikeouts.

Kayla Johnson, Forestview: Hit a two-run homer.

Blair Riley, Forestview: Was 3-for-3 with two doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Zaniah Field, Kings Mountain: Was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs in a 16-0 win at South Point.

Maddie Huffman, Kings Mountain: Was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored. She also pitched a four inning perfect game, striking out 12 South Point batters.

Kayla McSwain, Kings Mountain: Was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Leah Lyerly, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in a 12-3 win over Pine Lake Prep.

Sarah Terrell, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Kiley Welch, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Kayra Brown, North Gaston: Hit a two-run homer in a 17-3 loss to Crest.

Parker Gordon, North Gaston: Was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and a run scored.

Monday, March 25

Baseball

Gaston Christian’s Aaron Main pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out nine Concord Academy batters in a 13-0 win. The Eagles’ senior standout walked one.

Meridian Leffew remained hot, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. David Nicks also had a solid outing, going 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs.

Jaxon Dubesko, Burns: Was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 16-1 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Mason Humphries, Burns: Was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored in a 16-1 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Camden Mackall, Burns: Was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored in a 16-1 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Joshua Taylor, Burns: Was 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in an 18-0 win over Bessemer City.

Jackson Toney, Burns: Was 2-for-2 with an RBI in a 16-1 win over Bessemer City.

Cameron Barnette, East Gaston: Was 2-for-3 in an 8-2 loss to Palisades.

Ethan Bray, Forestview: Was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a 4-3 loss to North Gaston.

Frederick “Tripp” Dow, Forestview: Was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. He also pitched three innings, allowing no runs on two hits with six strikeouts.

Tucker Cash, Kings Mountain: Had a hit and an RBI in a 7-0 win over Ashbrook.

Lawson Kennedy, Kings Mountain: Had a hit and an RBI.

Aidan Taylor, Kings Mountain: Pitched a complete game, allowing no runs on two hits with 16 strikeouts.

Wesley Turner, Kings Mountain: Had a hit and an RBI.

Kandan Zollo, Kings Mountain: Was 2-for-2.

Karson Cloninger, Lincolnton: Pitched 6 ⅓ innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits with 11 strikeouts.

Caleb Bates, North Gaston: Had a double, an RBI and a run scored in a 4-3 win over Forestview.

Caleb Cloninger, North Gaston: Pitched five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts.

Elijah Cunningham, North Gaston: Had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Levi Jenkins, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in a 6-3 loss to East Burke.

Softball

Maggie Earl, Burns: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a 13-1 win over Bessemer City.

Laylah Haynes, Burns: Was 2-for-4 with two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored.

Olivia Waters, Burns: Allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts in five innings of work.

Annalise Bradley, Shelby: Had a hit, RBI and scored a run in a 10-7 win over Gaffney.

Abby Clary, Shelby: Had a hit and scored a run in a 10-7 win over Gaffney.

Caroline Curtis, Shelby: Was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored in s 10-8 win over Gaffney.

Dereon Kee, Shelby: Had a hit, RBI and scored three runs in a 10-7 win over Gaffney.

Autumn Mathies, Shelby: Earned a double and had two RBIs in a 10-8 win over Gaffney.

Julianna Vaughan, Shelby: Had a hit and scored a run in a 10-7 win over Gaffney.

Addison Wease, Shelby: Had a hit and an RBI in a 10-7 win over Gaffney.

Daniela Tejada, Stuart Camer: Was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in a 7-5 win over East Gaston.

Ashlyn Lee, Stuart Cramer: Was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Addesyn Payseur, Stuart Cramer: Hit a home run, along with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Hadley Womack, Stuart Cramer: Was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Quinlyn Avery, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and another run scored in an 8-1 win over East Burke.

Stacia Cowan, West Lincoln: Pitched seven innings, allowing one run on six hits with six strikeouts. She also had a double and two RBIs.

Melony Hoffman, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Kaylin Pardo, West Lincoln: Was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and run scored.

Addisyn Robinson, West Lincoln: Was 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Girls soccer

Cadence Setzer, Crest: Scored five goals in a 7-1 win over East Rutherford.

Morgan Setzer, Crest: Scored two goals.

Mackenzie Landreth, Lincoln Charter: Scored a goal in a 2-1 loss to Bradford Prep.

Track and field

North Gaston hosted the 2024 Gaston County track and field championships. Ashbrook earned 105 points, nine better than Hunter Huss to claim the boys title. The Green Wave girls made it a sweep, racking up 117 points en route to earning a county crown.

Here are the winners from Monday’s event.

Boys

  • Amir Goines, Ashbrook: Won the 400- (51.38 seconds) and 800-meter (2:18.10) events.

  • Zack Larner, Forestview: Won the 1,600-(4:49.03) and 3,200-meter (10:30.95) events.

  • Hunter Huss 4x100-meter relay (43.63 seconds)

  • Hunter Huss 4x200-meter relay (1:32.41)

  • Hunter Huss 4x400-meter relay (3:40.09)

  • Hunter Huss 4x800-meter relay (9:16.65)

  • Anthony Reynolds, Hunter Huss: Won the 110- (15.87 seconds) and 300-meter (42.28 seconds) hurdle events.

  • Bryson Lomick, South Point: Won the 100- (10.75 seconds) and 200-meter (22.43 seconds) dashes.

Girls

  • Ashbrook 4x200-meter relay (1:48.72)

  • Ashbrook 4x800-meter relay (11:49.85)

  • Mahogany Spikes, Ashbrook: Won the 100- (12.49 seconds), 200- (25.55 seconds) and 400-meter (58.98 seconds) dash events.

  • Khaliah Witherspoon, Ashbrook: Won the 300-meter hurdle event (54.69 seconds).

  • Lyla Williams, Highland Tech: Won the 3,200-meter race (14:36.96).

  • Hunter Huss 4x100-meter relay (52.45 seconds)

  • Ariyah Graham, Hunter Huss: Won the 100-meter hurdle event (18.25 seconds)

  • South Point 4x400-meter relay (4:24.42)

  • Annabelle Bahr, Stuart Cramer: Won the 800-meter event (2:56).

  • Ellory Lamp, Stuart Cramer: Won the 1,600-meter race (6:40.05).
