Gastonia, Shelby area high school top performers for first two weeks of winter sports

Here is a daily list of the top performers from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties during the first two weeks of winter sports action.

Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps or mentioning @JoeLHughesII in game results and highlights posted to Twitter.

Boys basketball

Isaac Byers Jr., Ashbrook: Led all scorers with 28 points in the Green Wave’s 78-66 win over North Lincoln.

Aryon Jackson, Ashbrook: Had 10 points.

Jamarion Patton, Ashbrook: Had 16 points.

Christian Atkins, East Lincoln: Had 13 points in the Mustangs’ 81-52 win over West Lincoln.

Jackson Fannon, East Lincoln: Had 26 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Riley Shropshire, East Lincoln: Had 17 points.

Ben Heavner, North Lincoln: Had 12 points in the Knights’ 78-66 loss at Ashbrook.

Tanner Lineberger, North Lincoln: Had 13 points.

Ty Sanders, North Lincoln: Led his team with 17 points.

D.J. Cross, Stuart Cramer: Finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

Amari Littlejohn, Stuart Cramer: Had 21 points, five assists and three steals.

Evan Hartsoe, West Lincoln: Had a team-high 12 points in an 81-52 loss to East Lincoln.

Girls basketball

Kiara Anderson, East Lincoln: Earned a double-double with 29 points and 11 steals to go with eight assists and five rebounds in a 73-28 win over West Lincoln.

Abbie Hege, East Lincoln: Earned a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals.

Amani Neely, Forestview: Had 13 points in a 62-50 win over Bandys.

Blair Riley, Forestview: Had 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Ashlyn Black, North Lincoln: Had 16 points and six steals in a 69-33 win over Ashbrook.

Addison Grice, North Lincoln: Had 10 points and six rebounds.

Allyson Smith, North Lincoln: Led her team with 20 points.

Oshauna Holland, Stuart Cramer: Had 19 points, six rebounds and four steals in a 63-34 loss to East Rutherford.

Carolina Robinson, West Lincoln: Led her team with 12 points in a 73-28 loss to East Lincoln.

Monday, Nov. 20

Boys basketball

Isaac Byers, Jr., Ashbrook: Had 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in a 76-26 win over Bessemer City.

Kenneth Greene, Ashbrook: Had 10 points, five assists and four steals.

Jamari Smith, Ashbrook: Earned a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

L.J. Smith, Lincolnton: Scored 43 points in a 71-68 win over Statesville.

Girls basketball

Amani Neely, Forestview: Had 12 points, six assists, four steals and two rebounds in a 58-17 win over East Gaston.

Tralyn Phillips, Forestview: Had 14 points, eight steals and four rebounds.

Blair Riley, Forestview: Had 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals.

Saturday, Nov. 18

Boys basketball

Brett Freeman, Gaston Christian: Had 10 points in a 64-54 loss to United Faith Christian.

Makoi Mabor Marier, Gaston Christian: Earned a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds to go with four assists and two blocks.

Cam Newman, Gaston Christian: Had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Joe Rhyne, Gaston Christian: Had 12 points.

Wrestling

Khadin Boone, Ashbrook: Won the Ironman Open 175-pound title via fall over Charlotte Latin’s Austin Flowers.

Caleb Gordon, Ashbrook: Won the Ironman Open 215-pound title via decision over Forestview’s Noah Comer.

Parker York, Ashbrook: Won the Ironman Open’s 157-pound title via fall over Hunter Huss’ Elijah Littlejohn.

Kaden Shoup, Burns: Claimed top honors at 120 pounds at the Ironman Open. He won the final match 18-12 by decision over Lincolnton’s Rylee Wesson.

Hunter Griffin, Cherryville: Won the 126-pound title at the Ironman Open via fall over Charlotte Latin’s William Edwards.

Trevon Bowers, Forestview: Earned top honors at the Ironman Open at 138 pounds via a 2-1 decision over Cherryville’s Robbie Bowman.

Caleb Deaton, Lincolnton: Earned the 150-pound title at the Ironman Open with a fall over Ashbrook’s Paxton York.

Geviaunta Walker, Lincolnton: Won the Ironman Open title at 285 pounds via fall over Hibriten’s Elijah Amaya-Perez.

Brandon McBride, Lincolnton: Won the 144-pound title at the Ironman Open via an 8-4 decision over South Point’s Dawson Tobin.

Lucas Conger, South Point: Won the 165-pound title via decision over Ashbrook’s J.J. Gordon.

Charlie Price, South Point: Won the Ironman Open at 113 pounds. He earned a 2-1 decision over Hibriten’s Brayden Reid, 2-1, to earn top honors.

Friday, Nov. 17

Boys basketball

Brett Freeman, Gaston Christian: Had 15 points in a 75-35 win over Asheville School.

Makoi Mabor Marier, Gaston Christian: Earned a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Brayden Milner, Gaston Christian: Scored 12 points.

Dario Williams, Gaston Christian: Had 13 points.Deshawn Coulter, Gaston Day: Had 14 points in a 68-65 win over SouthLake Christian.

Braylen Todd, Gaston Day: Led his team with 27 points.

Elijah Sherrill, Highland Tech: Had 24 points, eight rebounds and eight steals in a 74-46 loss to Piedmont Community Charter.

Yoell Mussie, Highland Tech: Had 11 points.

Markell Carothers, North Gaston: Led all scorers with 16 points in a 59-33 win over Bessemer City.

Jurnee Lattimore, North Gaston: Had 13 points.

Gideon Allen, West Lincoln: Earned a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds in an 87-83 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Mikalister Andersen, West Lincoln: Had 36 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two assists.

Girls basketball

Kionna Pettus, Bessemer City: Earned a double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and six steals.

Imani Rhodes, Bessemer City: Earned a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Addie McCraw, Highland Tech: Earned a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds, including the game-winning shot with 15 seconds remaining.

Jaleila Littlejohn, North Gaston: Had 36 points, five rebounds and three steals in a 45-31 win over Bessemer City.Lyric Brown, Piedmont Community Charter: Had 13 points in a 41-38 loss to Highland Tech.

Aubree Cammer, Piedmont Community Charter: Led her team with 15 points.

Ryan Carter, Cramerton Christian: Led his team with 21 points and five steals in a 73-58 win over Ahoskie Christian.

Randall Farr, Cramerton Christian: Had 13 points and five steals.

Brayden Johnson, Cramerton Christian: Had 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals.

Grant Wooten, Cramerton Christian: Earned a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists to go with eight steals.

Deshawn Coulter, Gaston Day: Had 11 points in an 88-59 loss to Cannon School..

Gavin Fields, Gaston Day: Had 11 points.

Kelan Flowers, Lincoln Charter: Had 22 points, three assists and three steals in an 84-30 win over Liberty Prep Christian.

Brett Freeman, Gaston Christian: Had 15 points, three steals and an assist in the Eagles’ 53-37 win over Greensboro Day.

Gabriel Mabor Marier, Gaston Christian: Earned a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go with three blocks and two steals.

Kurt Hunter, Gaston Day: Co-led the Spartans with 17 points in a 94-39 win over Hickory Christian.

Chase Owens, Gaston Day: Had 12 points.

Braylen Todd, Gaston Day: Co-led the Spartans with 17 points.

Kelan Flowers, Lincoln Charter: Scored 13 points in a 58-46 loss to Providence Day.
