Gas prices increase in Whatcom County, Bellingham and WA state, with 21-cent jump

Gas prices in Whatcom County, Bellingham and Washington state have increased this month, but we found the cheapest gas in Whatcom county for you to save at the pump.

The average price of a gallon of gas across the United States was $3.35 on Monday, March 4, according to the American Automobile Association — 21 cents more than last month’s average.

Gas prices in Washington and Whatcom County also increased this month. Here’s the breakdown:

Washington gas prices

Washington state’s average cost of gas per gallon is now $4.12 — a 21 cent increase from February’s average of $3.91. Last March, gas averaged $4.23 a gallon in Washington state, 11 cents above the current average, according to AAA.

Although gas prices in Washington state increased throughout most of 2023, prices starting to decrease in October. But since February 2024, prices started to increase again.

Washington has the third-highest gas prices in the country, following California at $4.83 a gallon and Hawaii at $4.68 a gallon, according to AAA.

Whatcom County prices

Whatcom County’s average cost of gas per gallon has fluctuated throughout 2023 and now in the beginning of 2023.

On Monday, March 4, Whatcom County’s average gallon of gas was $4.06 — a 31-cent increase compared with February.

Bellingham’s average gallon of gas is $4.05 a gallon, according to AAA, a 30-cent increase from last month’s average of $3.75.
