Ten BMW employees were taken to a hospital Thursday night after a natural gas leak was discovered in a logistics facility in Greer.

Nathalie Bauters, spokesperson for BMW Manufacturing, said the employees were experiencing lightheadedness.

Some 200 people were evacuated from the building while it was ventilated.

She said the building was back in use Friday morning,

She did not say how or why the gas leak happened.

BMW describes the logistics facility as the lifeline of distribution, ensuring all essential parts are where they need to be for cars to be produced. This particular facility was adjacent to an assembly hall, not the main logistics center opened two years ago.

BMW makes BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and XM Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes at the Spartanburg County plant. The plant produces more than 1,500 vehicles a day and employs more than 11,000 workers.
