What Is the 'Game of Thrones' Cast Doing Now?

As season two of House of the Dragon wraps up and the wait for season three begins, fans might be inspired to rewatch the original series, Game of Thrones. Set roughly 200 years after HOTD, Thrones, too, is based on the fantasy books by George R. R. Martin, though it famously deviated from the source material.
But if you've had your fill of dragons, braids, and political intrigue, perhaps you'd prefer your next binge-watch to feature familiar faces from Westeros, but in an entirely different story. In the five years since the Game of Thrones finale aired, cast members have been booked and busy. Here, see their photos and updates on their latest roles.
Emilia Clarke
Character in Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen
After wrapping Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke starred as 'Sarah Connor' in Terminator: Genisys (2015), 'Qi'ra' in Disney's Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), and 'G'iah' in Marvel's Secret Invasion (2023). In 2o22, Clarke made her debut on the West End in Anya Reiss's adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull.
Earlier this year, Clarke received an Order of the British Empire, as seen in this photo, for her and her mother's contributions to people with brain injuries, having founded the charity SameYou. Clarke also recently announced that she has joined the cast of Criminal, a crime drama based on the graphic novel series by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.
Peter Dinklage
Character in Game of Thrones: Tyrion Lannister
In 2021, Dinklage starred as Cyrano in the film adaptation of the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, for which he was nominated Best Actor at the Golden Globe Awards.
Other notable appearances in recent years include roles in the crime thriller I Care a Lot (2020), the romantic film She Came to Me (2023), and the Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023).
Next, Dinklage will be portraying Dr. Dillamond in the two-part movie adaptation of Wicked, the Broadway musical.
Lena Headey
Character in Game of Thrones: Cersei Lannister
In 2019, Headey directed her first feature film, the drama-thriller The Trap. She said she "loved every second of it" and hopes "to do more of it because it's [her] very happy place."
In 2023, Headey returned to the acting world, starring in HBO's White House Plumbers, a period piece on the Watergate scandal, and the sci-fi series Beacon 23. She also recently lent her voice to the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revolution, and is set to play Fiona Nolan in the Netflix series The Abandons.
Kit Harington
Character in Game of Thrones: Jon Snow
Right after Game of Thrones ended, Harrington joined the casts of Criminal: UK, Modern Love, and Extrapolations. He's also appeared in Eternals (2021), Baby Ruby (2022), Blood for Dust (2023), and Lot No. 249 (2023).
Harington's most recent film the horror The Beast Within, just came out this past week. He was supposed to film a spinoff on his Games of Thrones character, Jon Snow, but it appears to have been shelved.
Maisie Williams
Character in Game of Thrones: Arya Stark
Williams started acting in Game of Thrones at just 14 years of age, and grew up with her character on the show.
Post-Thrones, Williams has continued to act, most notably in The New Mutants (2020) and the Apple TV+ drama, The New Look, in which she plays Christian Dior's sister, Catherine Dior, a French resistance fighter.

Sophie Turner
Character in Game of Thrones: Sansa Stark
After saying goodbye to Sansa, Turner starred as the telepath Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) and the plane crash survivor, Jane, in the thrilling show Survive (2020). She also appeared in Heavy (2019), Broken Soldier (2022), Do Revenge (2022) and The Staircase (2022).
Turner has many projects currently in the works, including portraying the real-life diamond thief Joan Hannington in Joan.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Character in Game of Thrones: Jaime Lannister
Coster-Waldau has certainly kept busy in the five years since Game of Thrones wrapped.
He's appeared in seven movies, including The Silencing (2020), A Taste of Hunger (2021), Against the Ice (2022), and, in 2023, The Flash, God Is a Bullet, and Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever.
This year, Coster-Waldau has been dedicated to fighting global issues. He's hosting a Bloomberg Original documentary-series on climate change, An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet, where he meets scientists, activists, and ordinary people to talk about solutions to problems. On climate change, he explained that "it’s a very difficult balance. You want to get people aware, you want to inspire change. But I think we’ve gone overboard by making it into this doomsday.”
Gwendoline Christie
Character in Game of Thrones: Brienne of Tarth
After her award-winning performance in Game of Thrones, Christie acted in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the 2019 adaptation at the National Theatre, which was then also recorded as a film.
She has continued to feature on TV series, including Netflix's The Sandman and Wednesday, playing Lucifer in the former and Principal Larissa Weems in the latter. In 2024, Christie joined the cast of Apple TV+' Severance for the forthcoming season two.
Bella Ramsey
Character in Game of Thrones: Lyanna Mormont
After Game of Thrones, Ramsey continued lending their voice to the animated series Hilda, which aired from 2018 to 2023. During that time, they also starred as Birdy in the movie Catherine Called Birdy and took a lead role in The Last of Us as Ellie Williams.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of The Last of Us's season two, set to premiere in 2025.
Jason Momoa
Character in Game of Thrones: Khal Drogo
After Game of Thrones, Jason Momoa starred as Aquaman and in the hit franchise Fast and Furious. Momoa currently has a couple of projects in the works, including Minecraft: The Movie, Hand of Dante, a TV series titled Chief of War, and Fast X: Part 2.
Iain Glen
Character in Game of Thrones: Ser Jorah Mormont
Since Thrones, Glen has appeared in The Windermere Children (2020) and played Bruce Wayne, (aka Batman), in the series Titans (2019-2021). In 2023, he began starring in Apple TV+'s Silo and joined the cast of the Prime Video series The Rig for season two. Most recently, in 2024, he finished filming the action-war movie The Last Front.
John Bradley
Character in Game of Thrones: Samwell Tarley
After Game of Thrones ended, Bradley appeared in the romantic comedy Marry Me (2022) starring Jennifer Lopez. He also had roles in Roland Emmerich's disaster film Moonfall (2022) and in The Railway Children Return (2022).
Notably, this year, Bradley filmed the sci-fi Netflix series 3 Body Problem, an exploration of the possible effects of extraterrestrials. However, his Game of Thrones fame has followed him throughout his career, making it hard for the public to accept him under a new persona. "That’s the hardship of being known for something," he says; "unless you want your career to end there and not progress, you have to find a way of showing a different side of yourself. That can be quite tricky."
Alfie Allen
Character in Game of Thrones: Theon Greyjoy
After the dark turn as Theon in Game of Thrones, Allen moved on to less bloody roles. He began with Harlots (2017) a drama set in 18th-century Georgian London and continued on as Finkel in Jojo Rabbit (2019). He made his Broadway debut in 2022, taking over the role of Mooney for Hangmen at the Broadway John Golden Theatre. In 2024, he starred in McVeigh, a psychological thriller on the life of domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh.
Liam Cunningham
Character in Game of Thrones: Davos Seaworth
In 2021, he played Livius in the series Domina and lent his voice to Masters of the Universe: Revelation alongside Lena Headey. In 2023, he acted in the movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. In 2024, Cunningham continued appearing in the Masters of the Universe series. Alongside his fellow Game of Thrones actors Bradley, and Hill, Cunningham joined the cast of the 3 Body Problem as Thomas Wade for the first season.
Isaac Hempstead Wright
Character in Game of Thrones: Bran Stark
Isaac Hempstead Wright has certainly grown up since he was on Game of Thrones. After the show's completion, Hempstead Wright played in the 2021 sci-fi thriller movie Voyagers. Now, he continues to balance his acting career with obtaining his university degree.
Aidan Gillen
Character in Game of Thrones: Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish
After Gillen finished his run on Game of Thrones in 2017, he took roles on Peaky Blinders and Project Blue Book. Between 2021 and 2023, he was also featured on the TV shows Mayor of Kingston and Kin, and in 2023, he played James Joyce for the film Dance First. In 2024, Gillen is set to join Jim Sheridan’s upcoming true crime drama, Re-creation.
Conleth Hill
Character in Game of Thrones: Lord Varys
In his post-Thrones career, Hill has continued acting mainly in TV series, including Doc Martin (2019), Dublin Murders (2019), Magpie Murders (2022), Vienna Blood (2019 through 2022), and alongside Bradley in Netflix's 3 Body Problem. In 2024, he is set to appear in the sequel to Magpie Murders, called Moonflower Murders, and the upcoming Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie.
