‘The Game’ Revival Set at Paramount Plus, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hosea Chanchez to Return

A revival of “The Game” has been ordered to series at Paramount Plus, with original series stars Wendy Raquel Robinson and Hosea Chanchez set to return.

Robinson will reprise the role of sports agent Tasha Mack, while Chanchez will once again play footballer Malik Wright. Both starred in the entire nine-season run of the original series. Several other original cast members will appear in the series as well. The revival will also relocate from San Diego to Las Vegas.

The half-hour series has been given a 10-episode order at the streamer. Devon Greggory will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Original series creator Mara Brock Akil will executive produce along with Salim Akil via Akil Productions, Kelsey Grammer, and Tom Russo of Grammnet NH Productions. CBS Studios will serve as the studio.

“Fifteen years ago I created ‘The Game’ and am so proud of the success we had, and that I was able to create characters and stories that resonated with so many people,” said Mara Brock Akil. “I couldn’t be happier about leaving my beloved characters like Tasha Mack and Malik Wright in the hands of Devon, Wendy and Hosea, who I know will build off of the rich foundation the show has.”

“The Game” debuted on The CW in 2006. It would go on to air three seasons on The CW before moving to BET for an additional six seasons. At the time it ended in 2015, the show had aired nearly 150 episodes. Along with Robinson and Chanchez, the original show starred Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Brandy, Lauren London, and Jay Ellis.

Aside from “The Game,” Robinson is known for her roles on shows like “The Steve Harvey Show,” “Descendants,” “Dear White People,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Insecure,” and “MacGyver.” On the film side, her credits include “A Weekend With the Family,” “Miss Congeniality,” “Rebound,” and “Two Can Play That Game.” She is repped by TalentWorks.

Chanchez was recently featured in the Lifetime event movie series “Seven Deadly Sins,” playing a leading role in “Lust” and “Envy.” His other television credits include “Black Lightning,” “All American,” “Major Crimes,” “Fanatic” and “Down For Whatever,” while his film credits include “96 Minutes,” and “Let the Church Say Amen,” for BET.
