Gal Gadot has said that a third Wonder Woman film is still happening — despite the DC Extended Universe coming to an end.

The actress played the Amazonian superhero in a very well-received solo film, a more poorly-received sequel, as well as Batman v Superman and Justice League. She also made a cameo appearance in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

But this shared universe is meant to soon be over and done with, with Warner Bros hiring James Gunn and Peter Safran to do a reboot with new versions of Superman etc (the unconnected continuities of The Batman and Joker won't be affected).

But in a recent interview, Gadot suggested that Gunn and Safran told her that they do intend to work on a third film together.

She explained to ComicBook.com: "I love portraying Wonder Woman. It's so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we're gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together."

Gadot's words came after we got a disappointing update on a possible third movie back in December.

Deadline reported that Gunn and Safran actually turned down the Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins' idea for the third outing because it didn't suit the studio's new direction.

However, Gadot's tease has given us new hope we could see her back as Wonder Woman again, though it's not clear exactly when a possible Wonder Woman 3 would be released.

Elsewhere in the universe, Jason Momoa still has a second Aquaman solo film to release and has said he'll continue to appear in future DC projects, although he suggested that it will be in a different role.
