There's a new face at Warm Springs Ranch, the 300-plus acre Boonville farm where Budweiser Clydesdales are bred and nurtured.

A colt recently born on the grounds will make his public debut at a very fitting moment: Super Bowl Sunday.

Warm Springs will host Football and Foals Feb. 11, which doubles as a Super Bowl watch party and a chance to meet the youngest among the more than 70 Clydesdales living on the farm.

While the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers go toe-to-toe on big-screen TVs, patrons can take photos with the Clydesdales. Also included in the $100 package: appetizers, dinner, and two 16-ounce beers.

Super Bowl Sunday is, of course, prime time for the Clydesdales, a fixture in gameday commercials. This year, a clip called "Old-School Delivery" will air, marking the majestic team's 46th such appearance, according to a news release.

Clearly, Warm Springs Ranch staff had this connection in mind when planning their auspicious introduction.

"The foals are so much fun to see up close," herd supervisor Amy Trout said of the new colt, "and you never know — he might just end up on a Budweiser commercial in the future."

At birth, Clydesdales are about 3 feet tall and weigh around 150 pounds, the news release said. And they can walk within a few hours of their arrival.

Eventually, the new colt — and any of his foal friends — will grow to around 6 feet, 2,000 pounds, or more than an entire offensive line. On a full-grown Clydesdale's daily menu: approximately 20 quarts of grain, 50 pounds of hay and 35 gallons of water as a chaser, the news release said.

"Clydesdales must go through years of training before becoming eligible to join one of the three traveling teams, or hitches," the release added.

Warm Springs Ranch plans numerous up-close-and-personal events throughout the year. Learn more about Football and Foals, or other experiences, at www.warmspringsranch.com.
