Funeral services planned for man killed in Lansing motorcycle crash

LANSING — Police have identified a man who died in a car-motorycle crash on South Cedar Street April 9 as Austyn Senters, 25, of Lansing.

Senters was riding a motorcycle that collided with a car on South Cedar Street, at the Elm Street intersection, about 2:20 p.m. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old woman, also was taken to a hospital and was reported in stable condition after the crash. At the time, police said the crash was under investigation. They provided no further details while releasing Senters' name.

Senters, who was wearing a helmet when the crash happened, was born and raised in the Flint area and moved to the Lansing area about five years ago. He worked as a technician for Mercedes-Benz of Okemos and loved cars and motorcycles, as well as his friends and his family, according to an online obituary.

"Austyn loved spending time outdoors, including kayaking, camping and hiking," the obituary said. "He was proud of his white Ducati Panigali and enjoyed riding with his large group of friends. Many people ended up at his home after a motorcycle ride or a car meet. His door was always open and his home was a place where everybody felt comfortable."

A funeral for Senters will take place at 2 p.m. April 19 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Road in Flint. Friends may visit with the family starting at 11 a.m. that day.

The family said memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Gift of Life Michigan using this website.
