Full slate of summer concerts announced for Union Square Park in Hornell

Music will be in the air during nine summer nights at Hornell’s Union Square Park.

Sponsored by Hornell Partners for Growth, “Thursdays at the Square” will feature live performances by local and regional artists at the nearly one-acre Seneca and Genesee streets venue.

HPG Executive Director Valorie Whitehill said the impetus behind this new event is “bringing the community out on Thursday nights, making it late in the evening so it is not 100 plus degrees out" and taking advantage of the entertainment options the square offers.

Bands and solo acts will perform from the covered stage in the park's amphitheater and seating will be available.

At least one concert date − July 18 − is still open and HPG is considering varied options including a karaoke-trivia night for that day.

Details about food offerings are still being finalized. HPG hopes to have at least one food vendor for concerts and a small nighttime farmers market is also being considered, Whitehill said.

Hornell's Union Square Park is in the spotlight on Nov. 2, 2023 for an official ribbon cutting marking the completion of the new Maple City gathering place at the intersection of Seneca and Genesee streets.
