Florida State baseball concludes its ACC weekend series today with a doubleheader at Wake Forest.
No. 7 FSU (30-7, 10-6) dropped Friday's opener 5-4 despite a career-high 12 strikeouts from pitcher Jamie Arnold. No. 13 Wake Forest's ace, Chase Burns, struck out eight over five innings, giving up a leadoff home run to Max Williams. But a bases-loaded walk and sacrifice fly in the eighth inning broke a tie and gave the Demon Deacons a lead they wouldn't give back.
The probable starters for Game 1 of today's doubleheader are Carson Dorsey (2-2, 4.34 ERA) for the Seminoles and Josh Hartle (4-1, 5.52) for the Demon Deacons. Dorsey started last Saturday's finale against Miami in place of Conner Whittaker, giving up three runs off six hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 3⅔ innings. Hartle has struck out eight in each of his last two outings, throwing 5⅔ shutout innings last week at Boston College.
