No. 9 FSU (32-8, 11-7 in ACC) enters off a win over North Florida that followed a 1-3 week against Mercer and No. 11 Wake Forest. Right fielder James Tibbs III hit a home run against UNF, giving him 17 to go with 64 RBIs on the season, both among the best in the NCAA. No. 6 Duke took two of three games at Virginia Tech last week but lost to Campbell on Tuesday. First baseman Ben Miller enters with a .444 average, which ranks second in the nation entering Thursday's games.
Tonight's probable starters are Jamie Arnold (7-1, 1.64 ERA) for the Seminoles and Jonathan Santucci (5-0, 3.38 ERA) for the Blue Devils. Arnold has the sixth-best ERA in the NCAA and the fifth-best WHIP at 0.88 and threw a career-high 12 strikeouts last week vs. Wake Forest. Santucci is third in the ACC with 77 strikeouts (just behind Arnold's 90) but gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits and four walks over four innings last week against Virginia Tech.
