FSU football live updates from 2024 NFL Draft as Seminoles get selected

Mike Norvell's first four years leading Florida State football produced just six NFL Draft picks.

The wind is blowing in the right direction coming off a 13-1 season and an ACC Championship for Norvell and the Seminoles after the program has had just one player drafted in each of the last two seasons. FSU had the third most players (12) invited to the NFL combine and could see the majority of those players hear their names called at the 2024 NFL Draft scheduled for Thursday to Saturday in downtown Detroit.

Jared Verse — who spurned entering the 2023 NFL Draft despite likely being a first-round pick — should be the first FSU player taken off the board and the lone one who is a lock to be a first-round pick. Verse is projected to go No. 9 overall to the Chicago Bears, according to USA TODAY Network's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz.

That would make Verse the second defensive player off the board, behind Alabama's Dallas Turner, projected to go No. 8 to the Atlanta Falcons. If Verse is taken ninth, he would be just the second FSU first-round pick since 2020 and the highest since cornerback Jalen Ramsey was picked fifth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, defensive tackle Braden Fiske, and running back Trey Benson rank behind Verse. All four could go anywhere in the second or third rounds. Other Seminoles players eligible for the draft include: Jordan Travis (quarterback), Renardo Green (defensive back), Fabien Lovett (defensive tackle), Jarrian Jones (defensive back), Jaheim Bell (tight end), Kalen DeLoach (linebacker), Tatum Bethune (linebacker) and Akeem Dent (safety).
