‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry and fiancée Molly Hurwitz end engagement

Matthew Perry’s engagement has come to an end.

The “Friends” star said he and Molly Hurwitz have broken up after getting engaged last November, People reported.

“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” Perry, 51, told the magazine in a statement. “I wish Molly the best.”

Hurwitz, 29, is a literary manager. She had been dating Perry since 2018.

Perry, who portrayed the wisecracking Chandler on all 10 seasons of “Friends,” was formerly in a relationship with “Mean Girls” actress Lizzy Caplan for six years.

Perry and his “Friends” co-stars — Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc — got back together for a reunion special that premiered last week on HBO Max.

The director of the reunion, Ben Winston, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that Perry was “great” on the special following public speculation about his health, with some viewers suggesting the actor had slurred speech. Perry has formerly spoken about past addiction struggles.

“People can sometimes just be unkind,” Winston told THR. “I wish they weren’t. I loved working with him. He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners in the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this.”
