While their on-screen characters didn't exactly get along, Marlo Thomas—who played the mother of Jennifer Aniston's character Rachel Green in Friends—shared some touching memories of her co-star, the late Matthew Perry.

While speaking with E! News, Thomas recalled working on the show with Perry, saying, "I noticed how appreciative he was of the other actors. And I remember when I did my very first scene, I walked into the coffee shop and he was sitting on the sofa, and he looked at me in a generous way."

"I could tell that he liked what I was doing. He gave that vibe off," she went on, further describing the feeling of Perry's demeanor. "He had a very sweet smile on his face, and that said to me, ‘I like what you're doing.' And I remember that very much. They were all very nice, but it's the one thing I remember specifically about him."

Thomas first appeared on Friends in season 2 in the episode "The One with the Lesbian Wedding," which aired in 1996. She also appeared in the episode "The One with the Two Parties" later in the season, before reprising her role years later in season 8's "The One with the Baby Shower."

Along with Thomas, many more close friends and co-stars have shared personal memories and kind thoughts about Perry after his death.

On Dec. 4, Perry's ex and another former Friends guest star, Julia Roberts, commented on his passing in an interview, saying, "The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking. I think that, you know, it just helps all of us just appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can."

Perry passed away on Oct. 28, at his home in Los Angeles. He was 54 years old.
