Friends in 24 hour walk for young stroke awareness
Seven friends are aiming to walk from Crewe to Blackpool in less than 24 hours to raise awareness of stroke in young people.
The group want to raise funds for the Stroke Association, after the wife of one of the walkers, Danny Baynes, had a stroke aged 26.
Mr Baynes, from Crewe, said partner Charlotte had since made "a 99% recovery," and he might be "a bit emotional" when they got to the finish line at Blackpool Tower.
The walkers set off at 10:00 BST on Friday, and hope to complete the approximate 70 mile journey by 10:00 on Saturday.
Mr Baynes' friend Matty Hassall, who has organised the walk, said it was "crazy" they had managed to convince five other friends to get involved.
"They are prepared to put their bodies and mental toughness through this challenge," he said.
Mr Hassall said they would be having some "tactical" breaks along the way, with a few fast food meals to "keep their calories up."
There was "no easy route" from Crewe to Blackpool on foot, but they were looking to do it in "sub 24 hours."
