Fresno woman identified as victim in fatal Highway 41 crash near Madera Ranchos
A Fresno woman was identified Friday as the victim of a fatal head-on collision near the Madera Ranchos, the Madera County Coroner’s Office said.
Highway 41 was closed down for about three hours after the crash near Avenue 15 at about 8:15 a.m. Thursday that killed a 23-year-old woman, according to the California Highway Patrol. She was Kalia Emani Bess of Fresno, the coroner’s office confirmed.
Bess was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla north on Highway 41 where the lanes consolidate down to a two-lane highway, CHP said.
A 42-year-old Fresno man was also headed north in a 2017 Dodge Ram truck when the truck and Corolla collided, CHP said. The crash sent the Corolla into the southbound lane directly into a 2008 BMW.
The Corolla and BMW collided and the Toyota overturned, CHP said. Bess died in the crash and a 59-year-old Oakhurst woman driving the BMW suffered major injuries.
She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
