French: Lisi finds perfection, trio post honor scores at Crystal Lanes

Derik Lisi recorded the sixth perfect game of the season at Crystal Lanes and a couple of seniors cracked the 700 barrier. Those three honor scores highlighted the action this week at Crystal Lanes.

After opening the night with a 237 game during action in the Hatfield Real Estate Men’s League, Derik made a slight adjustment and rattled off 12 strikes in a row in game two for his first 300 game in adult league competition at the local center. Derik capped the evening with a 234 game to finish with a 771 series which was good enough to give him scoring honors for the week. It was the sixth 300 game in the association this season.

In that same league, my boy Mike Brewster had a Mike Brewster night. He opened the evening with a respectable 193 game and then went on a strike binge. Game two was a 288 masterpiece followed by a near perfect 279 game for a 760 series. Dude, what a comeback. Chad Farr rolled a 717 while Mike Kosinski opened a 711 and Jim Orr highlighted a 704 set with a 279 game.

The only other men’s league with more than one 700 was the Tire World of Corning Men’s League. Max Dunning barely grabbed honors in this loop with a 752 on a pair of 247s and a 258 game. One stick back, Ron Gunn fired rounds of 255, 258 and 238 for a 751 series. Jim Sjoblom capped a 722 set with a 279 and teammate Adam Madigan checked in with a 706 series.

In other men’s action, Jake Allen paced the Atlas Pizzeeria Mixed League with a 728 series that featured a 289 game. Ron Bush topped two leagues with the same score, a 704 series. That was good enough to pace the Addison Men’s League and also the Jubilee Foods Mixed League. And then there was Gary Gooder’s 700 series leading the usually high-scoring Joey’s Contracting Mixed League. That’s all folks.

There were a dozen young fellas over the 600 mark in the Chilson-Wilcox Senior Men’s League this week, but John Stermer and Al Farr took things a step further by climbing into the 700 atmosphere. John got things warmed up with a 214 before blasting a 279 game. He closed the session with a 242 effort to finish with a 735 series. It was his third senior seven of the season. Al Farr, who plays the role of super sub to perfection, garnered his second senior seven when he put together games of 268, 231 and 222 for a 721 set.

Teammates Ken Mattison and Mike Donovan led the half-dozen guys over the 600 mark with scores of 668 and 659 respectively. Ken paired a couple of 228s with a 212 while Mike overcame a slow start with games of 257 and 236. You do the math.

Judd McAtee capped a 619 series with a 244 game while Harry Goltry rolled a 615 set which was one stick better than Gary Gustin’s 614. Bruce Stanton completed the senior half-dozen with a 612 series. In other senior action, Ken Mattison topped the Go-Getters Mixed League with a 603 set.

Seven ladies topped the 600 mark this week with four of those scores coming from The ‘L’ Ladies League. Deon Frost grabbed the honors for the gals this week with her 679 series on games of 200, 247 and 232. Lori Calkins put together a very consistent three deuce effort in her 664 series with games of 221, 217 and 226. Gwen Bain followed suit with Lori when she rolled games of 223, 222 and 203 for a 648 series. Anita Gennosa made it a quartet when she capped her 625 series with a 230 game.

In other ladies action, Gwen Bain notched the 600 daily double by leading the gals in the Joey’s Contracting Mixed League with a 621 series that was capped with a 235 game. Heather Farr’s 610 series was good enough to pace the Gabe’s Grille Ladies League while Meghan Sturdevant rolled her obligatory six in the Adult/Junior Fall League. This week she posted a 602 set.

Camryn Stefanini continued his hot start to the junior bowling season with his third 700 of the year. He opened the scoring in the Fall Adult/Junior Mixed League with a 254 game and then tacked on scores of 226 and 236 for a 716. And that was good enough to nab scoring honors for the juniors. In the same league, PJ Nelson continued a recent surge in scoring with a 648 series.

Six more juniors topped the 600 mark in the CIBA Jr./Sr. Mixed League. Cameron Kennedy led this half-dozen of youngsters with a 665 set, closely followed by the aforementioned PJ Nelson, who tossed a 657 set. Noah Cady came in with a 642 series while Zachery Sturdevant and Zack Crown both tossed scores of 610 and Camryn Stefanini closed it out with a 605 series.
