French Bulldog's Confusion Over Her Very First Staircase Is So Endearing

Raising a dog in an apartment is such a specific experience. You have less space, so they have less space. You take the elevator to go outside, so they use the elevator to go outside. So we can sort of see why a French Bulldog was sort of thrown by the staircase in her mama's new house. And let's just say a video of the dog being completely baffled by the feature has people cracking up online.

It's not clear what their last home looked like, but the senior Frenchie had no idea what to make of the staircase.

In all fairness to the French Bulldog, those first few days in a new space can be sort of disorienting — even for humans. There's just so much to get used to! But we can't even imagine what it would be like if we didn't get the whole staircase thing.

In the clip, the dog's owner Kenzie was trying to call her Frenchie Primrose from the top of the stairs. But the pup had no idea where the sound was coming from. She looped around the staircase several times before mom got her to realize where she was.

Commenters online were laughing so hard. "She’s going places… not up the stairs, but she’s going places lol," joked one person. "I HEAR YOU BUT I CAN'T SEE YOU," someone else teased. "Her little clickity clacks back and forth," another person chimed in. "The smile when she finally is going up the stairs tho," one person mused.

Get Your Dog Used to Their New Home

It's really not Primerose's fault that she couldn't find her mom. It must've been like magic to her! If you and your dog are moving to a new home soon there are certain tips and tricks to make the transition easier — although we can't promise that hilarious missteps like this one won't happen from time to time.

You might be tempted to go out and buy your dog all new things for your new home, but it's actually better to stick to what they know and love. Dogs find their favorite things to be comforting, which is a help when acclimating to a new space. Something else that will make them feel better? Stick to their old schedule. Dogs thrive on consistency and making sure they have a routine can be really helpful.

The big thing is to take things slow. If you want to bring them to a new dog park, you'll want to follow that with a few days at home. Introduce new locations and changes to their routine one at a time and eventually your pup will be feeling right at home.
