FREMONT ― Thursday's National Day of Prayer, with a theme of “Lift up the word, light up the world," included a program in front of the municipal building.

Local clergy led the crowd in prayer, praying into seven centers of influence in the nation. Pastor Rick Ash, Fremont Baptist Temple, led a prayer for the government. Pastor Jonathan Edwards, Grace Brethren Chapel, led a prayer for the military. Pastor Lawrence Rhea, The Church on 53, led a prayer for the media.
Chaplain Larry Stump led a prayer for business. Pastor Ian Vencil, Fremont Alliance Church, led a prayer for education. Deacon Tim Walters, Saint Ann and Saint Joseph Catholic Parishes, led a prayer for the Church. Pastor Matt Wheeler, St. John Lutheran Church, led a prayer for the family.
The service ended with the singing of "God Bless America", led by Cynthia and Rex Mason, and the praying of the Lord’s Prayer in unison.
