On opening day, Braylen Harrison and his mother, Whitney Harrison, enjoyed a round. Whitney Harrison said the greens held a special memory for her: it is where she and her husband had their first date before the facility closed years ago.

Mosier said she has given out free certificates to play to various youth groups such as the Girl Scouts, the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County, and the various 4-H clubs.

"If the kids have been doing well, they get a certificate to play. We want to make a difference in the community," said Mosier. "Also, we have a shelter house coming soon."

There are plans to have live music performed in the shelter house.

"We can book parties as well," Mosier said.

Spring hours for Freedom Fairway are Thursday and Friday from 5-8 p.m., Saturday1-8 p.m., and Sunday 1-6 p.m. Call 930-243-3137 for more information.

The facility is located at 1841 Steven Ave.
