Free veterans tickets, 'Happy Gilmore' actor appearance: Rumble Ponies 2024 promotions

With the 2024 season in full swing and under new ownership, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies are debuting specialty jerseys, highlighting local businesses and offering free tickets for some fans.

Earlier this month, the Rumble Ponies, in association with Broome County, announced local veterans would be receiving complimentary tickets to games this season.

Here are some of the other upcoming promotions being offered by the Mets' Southern Tier Double A team this season.

Free tickets for veterans at Rumble Ponies games

Active or retired military veterans will receive four reserved grandstand tickets to any home game for the 2024 regular season.

In order to receive these tickets, veterans must go to the box office in Mirabito Stadium the morning of a game. In addition, veterans can join players on the field during the national anthem thanks to the Field of Valor promotion.

'Happy Gilmore' star among 2024 Rumble Ponies celebrity appearances

Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 29 - Ed's Live Dinosaurs

This summer, the Rumble Ponies will have not one, but two dinosaur-themed nights. The night will feature Ed and his dinosaur expert friends wrangling their animatronic dinosaurs, as well as a dinosaur hatching during the game.

Friday, Aug. 16 - Christopher McDonald

In August, fans will have the opportunity to meet Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in the 1996 film, "Happy Gilmore." The event coincides with a special Tee Time Golf Night at the ballpark.

Friday, June 14 - Binghamton Creatures Night + Miller Auto Team Fireworks

On Friday, June 14, the Rumble Ponies will transform into the Binghamton Creatures in an ode to Rod Serling, Binghamton native and creator of the Twilight Zone. The night will features players in special jerseys and hats, and jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to help a local nonprofit. The night will also feature fireworks, sponsored by Miller Auto Team.

Sunday, June 16 - Binghamton Mets Day

For the first time since 2016, the Binghamton Mets will return to Mirabito Stadium. Players will don newly designed Binghamton Mets jerseys, and the Rumble Ponies will give away a double bobblehead featuring 2023 Rumble Ponies player and Mets prospect Luisangel Acuna and Ronald Acuna Sr., who played for the Binghamton Mets in 2002.

The Binghamton Mets will then return to the field for the last weekend of the season in September.

Saturday, August 17 - Night of the Grumble Pugs

For the night of Aug. 17, the Rumble Ponies will transform into the Grumble Pugs to honor Marvin, Rumble Ponies President David Sobotka's pug. The team will don special jerseys and hats and throw Marvin a special birthday party before the game. Fans will be able to bring their dogs to the game for free, thanks to a special Bark in the Park promotion.

Weekly promotions

Outside of these upcoming promotions, the Rumble Ponies have recurring promotions every week.

Tuesdays: Twofer Tuesday - all domestic draft beers and fountain sodas are buy one, get one free.

Wednesday: We Care Wednesday - For every Wednesday home game, the Rumble Ponies partner with a different 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which receive a first pitch, the chance to talk on the field ahead of the game and the proceeds of that week's 50/50 raffle.

Thursday: "Thursty" Thursday - 2-for-1 pricing on all domestic draft beers during the game.

Friday: Miller Auto Team Fireworks - On Fridays, fireworks light up the sky in downtown Binghamton thanks to fireworks at Mirabito Stadium.

Saturday: 607 Saturdays - Each week, a different local community will be highlighted, with different businesses, leaders and community members involvement.

Sunday: Kids Eat Free - all children 12 and under will receive a voucher for a hotdog and soda.
