The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development describes Promise Zones as high poverty areas, where local governments partner with the federal government to help the community. In Tallahassee, this area spans South City and Frenchtown.

Qualifying residents must sign up by 1:30 p.m. on event day. They will have 20 minutes to meet with a volunteer attorney for free legal guidance regarding adoption, family law, property, probate, wills, and landlord & tenant issues.

The event was made possible with the Promise Zone Grant, established over 50 years ago by the Tallahassee Bar Association, which authorizes the Legal Aid Foundation to offer these free services.
