Free corn dogs at Clovis restaurant’s grand opening. Try latest popular Korean food trend

Ajay Hira is all about the power of choice.

It was the defining concept of Yogurtland, the frozen yogurt shop he helped open in 2009. And it’s front and center at his latest venture, Two Hands Fresh Corn Dogs, which celebrates its official grand opening at Sierra Vista Mall on Saturday.

This isn’t your traditional county-fair corn dog, though that is on the menu if that’s what you’re craving.

Two Hands specializes in Korean corn dogs, or K-dogs, which are dipped in a rice batter and covered in any number of exotic toppings. Think cubes of potatoes or Nashville-style hot seasoning or bean powder with sweet sauce. For the dog itself, you can get beef sausage (regular of spicy) or a mozzarella cheese stick or a half-and-half combo.

There’s also a plant-based sausage for vegans.

“You choose what you want on the outside and then choose what you want on the inside,” Hira says.

“We’ve always loved that concept.”

The menu also features kimchi-seasoned fries, four different flavors of frozen slush drinks and six flavors of boba tea.

Hira stumbled upon Korean hot dogs while on a trip to Los Angles, and knew it was something that would connect back home.

“We’ve been in the restaurant business long enough to know,” he says.

“It was really cool.”

Rumors of a Korean corn dog spot in Clovis have been circulating since the restaurant signed its lease at Sierra Vista Mall back in July. It held a soft opening last month and already Hira has seen a willingness in the customers to try something new.

“There is an experience of adventure that I see in the customer’s eyes,” he says.

Free and BOGO offers Saturday

To celebrate its grand opening, Two Hands Fresh Corn Dogs will be offering free and discounted food beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday. Customers can get one free corn dog until 2 p.m. Starting at 6 p.m., the restaurant will offer a buy-one, get-one free special. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the day will be donated to Valley Children’s Healthcare.

The hospital’s mascot George the Giraffe will be on site to great the first 100 guests with a free fruit punch slush.

“We are so grateful for the community and the support they have given us throughout the years,” Hira says.

“We just really want to say thank you.”
