Kenny Mayne’s final episode of SportsCenter at ESPN was as entertaining as it gets. While most fans were captivated by Aaron Rodgers’ comments about his situation with the Green Bay Packers, others were shocked when they heard what former MLB star Fred McGriff had to tell Mayne.

McGriff, who was a five-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger during his MLB career, used to be at the forefront of a commercial for Tom Emanski’s Baseball World Defensive Drills video. That advertisement often played on ESPN, so it’s only fitting that Mayne asked about McGriff’s role in it.

To the surprise of many, McGriff revealed that he’s never actually seen the defensive drills video that he was endorsing years ago.

“I am going to reveal this to the nation. Honestly, I’ve never seen the video in my life,” McGriff told Mayne. “OK, you know what I’m saying? When I was 19 years old, Steve Christmas told me to visit Tom Emanski down in Orlando. He said he could help me out with my hitting. So I’m like ‘Yeah, OK.’

“Five years later, I’m in the big leagues, so Tom’s like ‘Fred, you mind helping me out with this video?’ I’m like ‘Dude, no sweat. I’m in the big leagues now.’ But I’ve never seen the video.”

Anyone who purchased this video back then must feel a little betrayed this week.

McGriff said in the commercial that Emanski’s video “gets results,” but we’re not sure if that’s true or not.

At the end of the day, this was a pretty funny story for McGriff to share on Mayne’s final show. It’s just not funny for those who were all in on Emanski’s defensive drills.
