Which Franklin employees made the most in 2023? Here are the top 25 salaries

FRANKLIN — Public safety officials made up most of this year's list of top earners in Franklin, according to a payroll report provided by the town administrator.

The Daily News obtained Franklin's payroll report for 2023 through a public records request. This year, 10 members of the Police Department ranked among the top 25 earners. Seven members of the Fire Department also made the list, with the remainder of the list comprising Franklin Public Schools and municipal employees.

Town Administrator Jamie Hellen retained the No. 1 spot from the previous year after receiving a nearly $15,000 raise in 2023. But while Hellen was the only Franklin employee to earn more than $200,000 in 2022, last year he was joined by the heads of the School and Police departments.

What did they make?: Franklin town and school employees' 2023 salaries, overtime

Public Works Director Robert "Brutus" Cantoreggi was the town's fifth-highest paid employee. Earlier this year, Cantoreggi admitted to violating the state's conflict of interest policy after accepting ski trips paid for by a water meter manufacturer and its distributor. Cantoreggi paid a $15,000 penalty to the state and was temporarily put on unpaid administrative leave by the town.

He was reinstated last month.

Only one woman cracked last year's 25 top paid employees — Tina Rogers, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. Rogers was the only woman to crack the top 25 in 2022 as well.

Some employees accumulated more overtime pay than their base salaries. Police Officer Nicholas Storelli was last year's eighth-highest earner in Franklin by earning $103,017.63 in additional and detail pay, on top of his $71,180.58 base salary.
