The Midlands continues to be a hot spot for fans of clean cars.

A new Frank’s Car Wash Express will open at 109 Main St. in Blythewood, just north of Blythewood High School’s football stadium, near St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. The town of Blythewood listed the coming car wash in a new construction roundup in its recent monthly newsletter.

An opening date for the new Frank’s has not been publicly announced. Construction appears to be largely completed. The State left a voice message Monday at Frank’s corporate office.

Frank’s has a large presence across South Carolina. Aside from the coming Blythewood spot, there are 19 other locations across the Palmetto State, including 13 in the Columbia and Lexington area.

Blythewood is an area of the Midlands that has continued to grow steadily. According to census figures, the town had just 250 residents in 1999. Today its population is more than 5,300.

Car washes have been been increasingly popping up across the Midlands. Earlier this month, a MOD Wash opened off Highway 378 in Lexington, near the Hendrix Crossing shopping center. A Big Dan’s car wash is under construction on Elmwood Avenue in Columbia, and a Time To Shine car wash is being built on Harbison Boulevard.

And there’s a Take 5 car wash under construction in the 2800 block of Augusta Road in West Columbia.
