Fox News Adds Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as Contributor

Fox News Media named former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to a contributor role, adding to the number of former Trump officials offering commentary across its media holdings.

Pompeo, who has been identified as a potential Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election, will make his first appearance Friday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.” He will contribute to other parts of the Fox News portfolio, including Fox Business Network’s daytime and primetime programming.

In a statement, Pompeo said he intended to give viewers a “candid, no-nonsense look at geopolitics, international relations and the America First policies” of the Trump administration.

He is the latest in a parade of Trump White House officials to come aboard Fox News. The Fox Corporation-backed outlet recently named former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany as a contributor and co-host of its “Outnumbered” daytime talk show. McEnany was recently spotted as a panelist on the new Fox News late-night talk program “Gutfeld!’ Larry Kudlow, a former Trump economic adviser, now hosts his own late-day program on Fox Business. Lara Trump, a daughter in law of the former president who has been vocal about her interest in seeking a U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina, was recently named a contributor. Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence recently narrated a documentary on Rush Limbaugh for the streaming-video outlet Fox Nation.

Fox News in the past has cut relationships with contributors who took tangible steps or announced their candidacy for political office.

Prior to joining Trump as Secretary of State, Pompeo was elected to four terms as a Republican Congressman from Kansas, from 2011 to 2017. He sat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, as well as the Energy and Commerce Committee and House Select Committee on Benghazi.

Before serving in Congress, Pompeo founded Thayer Aerospace, where he was CEO. He later became president of Sentry International, an oilfield equipment manufacturing and service company. Pompeo currently serves as a distinguished fellow at the Hudson Institute, a politically conservative think tank based in Washington D.C.
