Fox Lifeguard Drama Rescue: Hi-Surf Sets Cast, Led by 9-1-1′s Arielle Kebbel

Arielle Kebbel’s experience playing 9-1-1 daredevil Lucy Donato will definitely come in handy with her next TV gig. The actress has been tapped to star in Fox’s Hawaii-set lifeguard drama series Rescue: HiSurf, along with several other familiar faces.

Per Fox’s official description, the sun-kissed procedural follows the “personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu—the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world. Each episode will feature these dedicated, heroic, and adrenaline-seeking first-responders saving lives in the difficult and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle.”

Kebbel will play Emily “Em” Wright, the first female lieutenant in Ocean Safety history, as well as a record-setting paddler and surfer. But Em isn’t one to settle, so she also has her sights set on becoming captain, a gig currently held by Sonny Jennings (Wentworth‘s Robbie Magasiva), whose own life is turned upside down by his nephew’s death.

Additional series regulars include Adam Demos (Sex/Life) as Will Ready, a good-natured Australian surfer who’s ready for anything the ocean throws at him; Kekoa Kekumano (The White Lotus) as Laka Hanohano, a fearless Native Hawaiian lifeguard who loves life and keeps people laughing; Alex Aiono (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) as Kainalu, a sweet-but-cocky lifeguard whose father is a rising politician; and Zoe Cipres (Roswell, New Mexico) as Hina, a competitive high-achiever who struggles with the scrutiny that comes with being one of the few female lifeguards.

Rescue: Hi-Surf writer and showrunner Matt Kester is executive-producing alongside director John Wells, Erin Jontow and Daniele Nathanson. A date has not been set, but the series is expected to premiere sometime this year.
