After four years, H-E-B finally opens two-level grocery store in Austin. Take a look
H-E-B opened a two-level grocery store Wednesday in Austin after nearly four years of anticipation from community leaders and local shoppers.
The new store is the first multi-level location H-E-B has opened in Austin. H-E-B opened its first multi-level store in San Antonio in 2015 and opened one in Houston in 2018. Construction began on the Austin store in 2019 but was paused because of the pandemic.
The 97,000-square-foot location includes a True Texas BBQ restaurant, Lake Austin’s Coffee Spot, SouthFlo Pizza, a pharmacy and underground parking. The store, at 2652 Lake Austin Blvd., has a two-story porch.
H-E-B began construction in November at Heritage Trace Parkway and North Riverside Drive in far north Fort Worth, a project opening date of spring 2024. It broke ground earlier this month at U.S. 287 and Broad Street in Mansfield. Both locations will be the company’s flagship format stores.
