Four new teams enter this week's Nashville area high school baseball rankings

The Tennessean’s Nashville area Large Class and Small Class TSSAA baseball rankings have been released after the conclusion of Week 9.

The Small Class rankings consist of Class 1A, 2A and Division II-A schools. Large Class schools are Class 3A, 4A and DII-AA.

Nashville area Large Class baseball rankings

1. Rossview (34-5) — The Hawks won three of four games, including an 11-6 victory over Clarksville in the District 13-4A tournament championship game to advance to the region tournament. Last week: No. 1. 

2. Clarksville (35-7) — Parker Frost was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in a 15-5 win over Northeast, and 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs in a 7-4 win over Rossview. The Wildcats won four of six games and finished runner-up in the district tournament to Rossview, advancing to the Region 7-4A tournament. Last week: No. 2.

3. Riverdale (35-8) — Riverdale battled through the District 8-4A tournament consolation bracket and defeated Siegel twice, 4-1 and 6-0, to win the championship and advance to the region tournament. Liam Goodheart went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the 8-4A title game. Last week: No. 3. 

4. CPA (24-9) —  The Lions went 2-0 and defeated Ensworth 4-3 for the Division II-AA Middle Region tournament championship. Brock Beddingfield was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs in a 4-3 win over Father Ryan to open the tournament.  Last week: No. 4.

5. Nolensville (23-8) — The Knights defeated Summit, Franklin and Brentwood in the District 10-4A tournament to reach the championship game and advance to regionals. Dawson Sweeney pitched nine innings, allowed three hits and struck out 11 in a crucial 1-0 win over Summit. Last week: No. 9. 

6. Siegel (28-12) — The Stars finished runner-up to Riverdale in the District 8-4A tournament and advanced to the region tournament. Layne Akers went 1-for-2 with a double in the finals. Last week: No. 10. 

7. Wilson Central (22-10) — The Wildcats upset Stewarts Creek 7-4 in the District 7-4A tournament to reach the championship and advance to regionals. Last week: Unranked.

8. Beech (20-14) — The Bucs defeated Green Hill to reach the District 12-4A finals and advance to the region tournament. Last week: Unranked.

9. Green Hill (23-7) — The Hawks bounced back from the Beech loss, defeating Hendersonville 3-0 Sunday to reach the district tournament finals and advance to regionals. Tennessee Tech commitment Micah Summar struck out nine over five shutout innings and allowed one hit against Hendersonville. Last week: No. 7.

10. Stewarts Creek (21-11) The Red Hawks lost to Wilson Central, 7-4, in the District 7-4A tournament. Coleman Neas was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, three runs scored and three stolen bases in an 8-1 win over Lebanon to open the tournament. Last week: No. 6.

Nashville area Small Class baseball rankings

1. Friendship Christian (27-11-1) — The Commanders defeated Clarksville Academy 3-0 to win the Division II-A District 4 tournament, then opened the DII-A Middle Region tournament with two wins to reach the semifinals. Last week: No. 1. 

2. Clarksville Academy (21-13) — The Wildcats finished runner-up to Friendship Christian in the district tournament, but defeated PCA and Columbia Academy to reach the Division II-A Middle Region tournament semifinals. Last week: No. 2. 

3. Loretto (22-6) — The Mustangs defeated Mount Pleasant, then took two games from Summertown to win their eighth consecutive district tournament championship. Last week: No. 3.

4. Eagleville (26-5) — The Eagles rolled to the District 9-1A tournament championship, defeating Fayetteville (twice) and Moore County by a combined score of 34-2. Last week: No. 4. 

5. Columbia Academy (28-6) — The Bulldogs lost a tight 1-0 game to Clarksville Academy to open the DII-A Middle Region tournament, but stayed alive by ending No. 6 Davidson Academy’s season, 5-4, in the next round. Last week: No. 4. 

6. White House Heritage (24-6) —The Patriots won the District 6-2A tournament championship thanks to a late two-run homer from Justin Smith and Caleb Cayce's walk-off against Westmoreland. Last week: No. 8. 

7. Goodpasture (27-10-1) — The Cougars lost 6-4 to top-ranked Friendship Christian in the DII-A Middle Region tournament.  Last week: No. 7.

8. Watertown (21-5) — Watertown defeated Smith County, 6-5, to win the District 5-2A tournament. Last week: No. 9. 

9. Gordonsville (19-9) — The Tigers rolled to the District 7-2A championship with a 14-6 win over Clay County in the finals. Last week: Unranked.

10. Summertown (18-17) — The Eagles finished runner-up to Loretto in the District 10-2A tournament, losing 7-4 in the finals, but advanced to the region tournament. Last week: Unranked.
