South Carolina picked up another piece to its 2025 football recruiting class on Saturday.

Four-star cornerback Shamari Earls committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks, about 90 minutes before USC’s spring game. On3 was the first to report Earls’ commitment.

Earls is the fifth commit for the 2025 class and fourth this month.

Earls picked USC over Tennessee, Alabama, Texas A&M and Georgia — all of which he visited. He is the 15th-rated cornerback from the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports. On3 has Earls as the ninth-best defensive back in his class and 70th-best overall recruit.

Earls made to visits to USC, most recently on Jan. 27. The Gamecocks offered him on Feb. 14, 2023.

Last season at Thomas Dale High in Chester, Virginia, Earls had 16 solo tackles, a trio of interceptions and four pass breakups. Arguably, his stats at wide receiver were more impressive, catching 29 passes for 715 yards and eight touchdowns.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback also runs track. During the indoor track season in Virginia this spring, Earls posted the state’s furthest long jump (23-10.75) and ran one of the fastest times in the 55m race (6.36 seconds).
