Fortnite’s Next Big Crossover Includes Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender just got its second live-action adaptation and if there’s anything we know about modern franchises, it’s that they eventually end up in Fortnite. After crossing over with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Chapter 5 Season 1, Fortnite is adding new skins and equipment based on Avatar in Season 2.

The leak comes through iFireMonkey on X/Twitter, who has provided reliable information on the game in the past. According to them, the Avatar crossover will be a mid-season event. The data was unearthed from the game’s API code, which mentions that the event will last until May 3, 2024. The event will seemingly be called “Cold Day”.

Here are all the rewards that will be included in the crossover:

  • Aang’s Appa Glider (unlocked by collecting 6 in-game books)

  • AANG Fortnite Style

  • AANG LEGO Style

  • Bottom reward track with additional rewards

  • Premium Reward Track items to be available in the shop at a later date.

This may sound familiar to the Lady Gaga crossover, with a mix of free and premium rewards. Fortnite Season 5 Chapter 2 is just a couple of weeks away, so we won’t have to wait long for an official announcement. In either case, there’s a lot coming to Fortnite in the coming weeks, with rumors of user-generated maps in LEGO Fortnite doing the rounds.

Given Avatar’s mixed reception, it will be interesting to see how Fortnite tackles the collaboration. Will the in-game character models be based on the animated show or the live-action adaptation? Will it incorporate non-canon events from the streamer?

In any case, this certainly isn’t the end of major crossovers in the game. After Disney’s massive investment into Epic Games, expect more franchise properties to head to the Fortnite island.
