Is Fortnite down? What to know about the update to Chapter 5 Season 3, 'Wrecked'

Fortnite servers are offline Friday morning as the game updates to version 30.00, or Chapter 5, Season 3.

When will Fortnite servers be back up?

According to Epic Games, Fortnite is offline for scheduled maintenance. Servers are expected to be back online at 8 a.m. ET.

According to Downdetector, which tracks internet outages based on user submissions, less than 100 people are reporting issues as of about 6:30 a.m. Reports peaked with 345 outages at about 2 a.m.

What's new in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, 'Wrecked'

The latest season gives "serious apocalypse vibes," according to Esports.gg, and brings with it the return of modable vehicles along with new weapons, new locations and new Medallions, among others.

Men's Journal says the new season brings the Wrecked Battle Pass, focused on the Wasteland Warriors. New locations include a new biome called the wasteland, "after a big sandstorm rolled through and transformed the area into a Mad Max-inspired sandscape."
