'Fortnight' Star Josh Charles Makes Bold Declaration About Taylor Swift

When Taylor Swift premiered her newest music video for her song "Fortnight," many were shocked to see actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles from the film Dead Poets Society make a surprise appearance.

Now, Charles is talking about his experience filming the music video, praising Swift as his "favorite kind of director." The actor sat down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to answer all his questions about the project and Swift, including, "How is Taylor Swift as a director?"

"I will tell you this," he began. "She's an incredible director, my favorite kind of director, because she knows what she wants, and when she's got it...we move on."

Charles went even further in his praise for her, adding, "I was already a fan of her music, but if any of you ever get to meet her, like, your fandom for her will just go up through the roof. She's just such a genuine, cool, approachable person."

Both Charles and Hawke played the role of doctors in a Frankenstein-esque situation in the "Fortnight" music video, running tests on Swift. The two's appearance is a reference to the album title, The Tortured Poets Department, and its similarity to the 1989 film Dead Poets Society.

This also isn't Swift's first time behind the camera, with her journey as director starting when she co-directed her music video "Mine" with Roman White in 2010. She then co-directed the music videos for "Me!", "Lover," and "You Need to Calm Down," before taking the lead for the first time on "The Man."

Swift went on to direct the music videos for "Cardigan" and "Willow" before making a big leap as she helmed All Too Well: The Short Film, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien. Swift is reportedly planning to make her directorial film debut soon, although there haven't been any updates of late.
