Fort Worth teen arrested in connection with November shooting death of man in neighborhood

A 19-year-old man from Fort Worth was arrested Tuesday and accused of being involved in the November fatal shooting of a man in southeast Fort Worth.

The suspect was identified as Ivan Powe, who was booked into the Fort Worth Jail just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to jail records.

Powe is expected to be charged with murder in the shooting death of 32-year-old Cortney Deshun Guy, who died on Nov. 30.

Powe remained in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday.

Another suspect, Jerome Hall, 26, of Fort Worth, was arrested shortly after the shooting and was charged with murder in the case on Jan. 27, according to Tarrant County criminal court records.

Hall was in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday with bond set at $150,000.

Fort Worth police have not released information on a motive for the shooting.

Officers responded to a shooting call at about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the 1500 block of East Robert Street.

In a 911 call., someone reported that a man had been shot near a house on East Robert Street. That man was later identified as Guy.

Responding officers found two victims in a field across the street, police said. Guy was one and a 45-year-old woman was the other.

Police said that Hall left the scene in a car, which police spotted on the east side of the city and chased. The pursuit ended shortly after 7 p.m. on Nov. 30.

Both victims were taken to hospitals, according to MedStar. Guy died and the woman was critically injured.

Police said they initially took Hall into custody Nov. 30 after pursuing a vehicle from the scene of the shooting.

Hall was charged in December with evading arrest, according to Tarrant County criminal court records.

Guy died on Nov. 30 from a gunshot wound to his torso and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at 4:57 p.m. in the emergency room of John Peter Smith Hospital.
