Fort Worth police investigate homicide after man with gunshot wound found in crashed car

Fort Worth police are investigating a homicide after a man drove into a fence and was found dead with a gunshot wound.

At around 11:40 a.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Sandy Lane, in east Fort Worth, in response to a call about a possible deceased person.

Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso, police say.

Detectives learned the man was in a car when it hit a fence. A person of interest then got into the victim’s car and drove it from the scene. The car was found a short distance from the scene, police say.

No suspects have been arrested. Homicide detectives are investigating what led to the shooting.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim.
